IT’S HERE. IT’S TIME. GET READY.
It’s easy to spiral while exam season stresses us out. I mean, who hasn’t been bothered by the incredible pressure brought by the need to study EVERYTHING? *ahem* I mean, the important subjects we’re in school to receive a diploma/degree for… We’re only paying TONS of money to be here. No big deal, right? RIGHT?
Yeah, we get it. Exams stress us ALL out, so beat the stress this exam season with some killer tips:
Take it from someone who lets the shortest to-do lists pick up her heart speed. Organizing your exam schedule helps you visualize the number of days (or hours) between your exams so you can identify the best times to block off studying. If you have two exams in one day, don’t fret! We have tips for this too: How To Survive Same Day Exams.
Ahhh, breakfast. We often forget to start our day with the fuel we need to get through it, especially when it’s tempting to skip meals due to a loss of appetite from stress. Just remember, hunger can sap your attention quicker than almost anything.
Turn those notifications OFF. When you’ve committed to studying for an hour or six, don’t let technology or a chatty friend distract you from completing your goal. It’s only too easy to switch to an activity that seems more fun than studying.
It’s been scientifically proven that dogs reduce anxiety levels. So, go make a new furry friend today!
Even the slightest bit of exercise can improve your mood, lower stress levels, and help you study. Exercise boosts blood flow to the brain, which helps you remember the material you’re memorizing.
Just look at this cute GIF for a sec… Laughter is the best medicine for a reason. So, find something that you think is funny, whether it’s a TV show or a GIF or whatever else, and allow yourself to feel a moment of joy. A solid giggle can relieve your tension and help you relax for up to 45 minutes! If that’s not a good enough reason to take a short break, I don’t know what is!
We all know the importance of sleep. This is when your brain and body recharge themselves so you’re ready to conquer the next day. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep to function normally!
Exams are stressful enough, so try not to think about what everyone else is doing at the moment. You have enough on your plate than to worry about accomplishing those bucket-list travel plans you see some acquaintance doing online. Surround yourself with like-minded friends who motivate and encourage you to stay on track.
In the end, there are tons of ways for students to beat stress during exam season. It may be easier to let go and allow anxiety to take control, but it will not benefit you. So, work towards beating that stress so you can kick studying’s butt already!
